The COBOL file editor of Cobos brings the best of Eclipse to COBOL programers: a quick and simple browsing into files with the Outline, Syntax coloring, Variable autocompletion, Open declaration, Compilation error notifications, Code templates, Changes tracking, Versioning…All these features have been tailor-made for the Cobol development.
Cobos adds to these very convenient features some outstanding features like « Word like » revision mode, Unfolding COBOL sources with COPY REPLACING expansion, Customizable tabulations, mainframe-like CAPS ON.

Local and remote compilation
OpenCobol (or COBOL-IT, optional)
Compilation features provided by the OpenCobol Compiler allows developers to check code syntax locally, without any interaction with the Mainframe server, in order to deliver bug-free applications and reduce host use at the maximum (with CICS, DB2 and DL1 support).
Finally, the developer launches the compilation on the host and retrieves messages locally in the IDE. -

Cobos is natively integrated with any Source Code Management (SCM) tool compatible with Eclipse. It offers to development teams the ability to easily import, export, compare or merge source files. A simplified UI makes easy the SCM use by Mainframe developers.
